At present, Manshen 2, a key exploration well in Fuman area of Tarim Basin, has made major discoveries, with a drilling depth of 8470m and a test oil column height of 550m, creating the record of the deepest oil production and the maximum oil column height in the great desert area of Tarim Basin.
In an interview with CCTV news, Yang Xuewen, general manager of PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Branch, said that PetroChina has made clear the geological laws of oil and gas reservoirs, continuously drilled 56 100 ton wells in Fuman oilfield, found a new oil reserve area of 1 billion tons, and became the largest oil exploration discovery in Talimu Basin in recent 10 years.
The buried depth of the main production layer of Fuman oilfield is about 8,000 meters. It is the deepest and largest carbonate volatile reservoir found so far in the world, and the exploitation difficulty is at the forefront of the world.
Tarim Oilfield has improved the success rate of new wells from 75% to more than 95% by overcoming the problems of high-quality seismic data acquisition and processing technology and ultra deep complex carbonate well layout technology.
Fuman oilfield is the main block of crude oil production in Tarim Oilfield. In the six years from discovery to development, the annual output of Fuman Oilfield has increased 50 times, reaching 1.52 mt by 2020, and it is expected to produce 2 mt of crude oil this year. It is estimated that during the 14th Five Year Plan period, an ultra-deep and large oilfield with an annual oil and gas equivalent of more than 5 mt will be built.
Tarim Basin is the largest petroliferous basin in China. The total proven oil and gas resources are about 16 billion tons of oil equivalent. The oil and gas resources buried more than 6000 meters account for 83.2% and 63.9% of the country respectively.
According to PetroChina, in order to make a breakthrough in exploration and development, Tarim Oilfield deepened the innovation of geological theory, challenged the limit of ultra deep exploration and development, innovated and formed two key oil and gas geological theories, four exploration and development technology series and six engineering supporting technologies, and broke through the three key technical bottlenecks of safe sealing, rapid drilling and well integrity of ultra-deep complex oil and gas reservoirs.
Up to now, Tarim Oilfield has proved 1.82 billion tons of ultra deep oil and gas geological reserves, implemented two trillion cubic meters of atmospheric areas and a 1 billion ton oil and gas area in the platform basin area, and built China's 30 million ton oil and gas production base.
As of June 14, Tarim Oilfield has carried out fine exploration based on the ultra-deep layer of Fuman and Bozi Dabei blocks this year. 15 wells have been drilled, with a new crude oil production capacity of 215000 tons and 1.14 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
In the first five months of this year, Tarim Oilfield achieved oil and gas production of 13.7 mt, a year-on-year increase of 540,000 tons.
